This October, Brisbane Street Studios joins Brisbane and the rest of the world in celebrating the influence of Das Land der Dichter und Denker on our lifestyles. From the compositions of Beethoven and the poetry of Rilke to the military strategy of Moltke the Elder and the socialist theories of Marx and Engels, the land of poets and thinkers have contributed much to knowledge and our appreciation of our everyday lives.
At the Brisbane Oktoberfest, guests in our Brisbane studio accommodation will experience Deutchsland’s culture and party spirit. Moreover, you’ll enjoy a holiday chockfull of Germany’s most popular pleasure - a mug of cold, top-fermented beer. Touted as “the most authentic Oktoberfest celebration in Australia,” the event held over two weekends at the RNA Showgrounds from October 8 to 10 and 15 to 17 will feature a traditional beer hall complimented by yodelers, cowbell ringers, and alpenrosen dance troupes. Guests in our Annerley accommodation will also have the satisfaction of watching an authentic Oompah band flown directly from Germany while downing beer at an 80m x 25m Oktoberfest tent that is decked out with wreaths and tables and benches that are exactly the same as those used in Munich. The Oompah music is made by a tuba alternating between the root of the cord, and is often associated with the polka and the musical Oliver!
From our Inner Brisbane apartments, you can also take part in the Miss Oktoberfest and Bavarian Strongman competitions. Miss Oktoberfest seeks the woman who best personifies Oktoberfest’s finest qualities. The Bavarian Strongman meanwhile is a test of the strength and barrel-balancing skill of male competitors.
Of course your Oktoberfest experience will not be complete without a mouthful of scrumptious Bavarian-style cuisine. Feast on fresh spit-roasted chickens, pork hocks with crackling, freshly baked pretzel, and a selection of luscious wood-fire cooked sausages. German cakes will also be served for dessert.
